Traffic fraud

The government has issued a new online fraud alert. These days, cyber criminals are scamming people in the name of traffic. The IT Ministry has issued a warning to people saying that due to this people are being defrauded worth thousands of dollars. People are sent a fake link to make e-challan payments, which results in people being detained and a major scam being conducted.

The government said in its warning that messages, emails or notifications are being sent to people about fake applications that violate traffic rules. In the cover letter, people are asked to pay e-challan dues. The message sent contains a fake link, through which people are asked to pay the challenge amount. Sometimes, hackers send people a link to download a fake app in a message or email. Many people fall into this trap of cyber criminals and lose their profits.

This is how we aim

  • People are being intimidated by sending fake letters telling that their cars will be confiscated for non-payment of the challan. People get scared and fall into the trap of hackers without any verification.
  • Hackers send fake links to people via messages or emails. When you click on this link, a website similar to the government website opens. For this reason, people easily fall into the trap of hackers and get cheated.
  • Often, fake phone numbers are sent to people in messages, where hackers connect the call when they call. Hackers use social engineering to trick people.

Avoid like this

  • To protect yourself from falling into the trap of scammers, you need to keep a few things in mind. Do not click on any link you receive in the message or email. Do not share any information without verifying it.
  • You should ignore messages and emails without checking the person sending the message or email. If you open any link by mistake, first check the specific website.
  • This email or any government notice comes from an official email. In such a case, first check the sender’s email and sender number.
  • Never share your personal information, banking details, etc. with anyone.
