IRCTC

The new IRCTC rules for advance booking of tickets have come into effect from today, i.e. November 1, 2024. If you are also using IRCTC app or website for railway booking, then you must be aware of this new railway rule. Indian Railways has now reduced the limit by changing the rules for booking tickets in advance. The official online ticket booking platform of Indian Railways has now reduced the advance ticket booking period from 120 days to 60 days.

The rules have changed from today

The Indian Railways announced this last month. Besides the IRCTC platform, this new rule also applies to any third-party ticketing platform or app like Paytm, Ixigo and Make My Trip. Also, this rule will also apply to offline tickets or counter tickets. In view of the increasing waiting list in trains, Indian Railways has made this change in advance ticket booking rules. Especially four months before the holiday season, tickets on many trains were full, resulting in many railway passengers facing problems.

Through the IRCTC platform, users will now be able to book tickets 60 days in advance instead of 120 days. Regular tickets can be booked at any time through the app and website. Meanwhile, Tatkal tickets can be booked 24 hours before the scheduled train departure. Tatkal ticket window opens at 10 AM for ACs and at 11 AM for non-ACs. In such a case, if you also want to book a train ticket in advance, you can now book the ticket only 60 days in advance.

IRCTC platform has been upgraded

IRCTC has updated its platform a lot in the past few years. Now users do not have to face any problem in booking tickets online. The Railways has also changed the rules for booking tickets through IRCTC in the last few years. If you log in to the app or website before 8 AM, you will be logged out at 8 AM. To book train tickets, you will have to log in again.

Meanwhile, for Tatkal ticket, you will have to check in at 10 AM and 11 AM. Apart from this, only one PNR number can be generated once you log in. For the second ticket, i.e. PNR, you will have to log in to the IRCTC app or website again. This decision has been taken by Indian Railways to stop black marketing of tickets.
