After the iPhone 16, Indonesia also banned Google Pixel phones. The government has completely banned the sale of Google Pixel smartphones. The government says Google, like Apple, also did not meet domestic manufacturing compliance. Indian tourists heading to Indonesia may also be affected by the ban on Google Pixel phones following the ban on the iPhone 16.

Violation of the rules

The Indonesian government says major companies such as Google and Apple have been banned for violating local manufacturing rules. We ask all investors working in the country to follow this rule so that it is fair to everyone. Google products do not meet this rule and therefore cannot be sold here.

Google said that Pixel smartphones are not currently sold in Indonesia. If a user buys a Google Pixel phone outside Indonesia, their phone will be considered illegal unless they pay the required taxes. This decision from the Indonesian government comes a week after the iPhone 16 was banned. The Indonesian government has set terms and conditions for the sale of phones there, so that local manufacturing can be boosted. The government has directed smartphone companies to use 40 percent local components in their devices.

Indian users will also be affected

However, Google and Apple are not the largest smartphone manufacturers in Indonesia. Samsung and Oppo phones are sold more in the Indonesian market. Apart from India, Indonesia is also an important smartphone market in South Asia. Most of the population here is under 30 years old, which is why it is called a tech-savvy nation. Tourists heading to Indonesia from India will also be affected by this ban imposed by the Indonesian government. If they are going to Indonesia, apart from the iPhone 16 and Google Pixel, they will also have to carry a secondary phone with them.
