Violation of the rules

Google said that Pixel smartphones are not currently sold in Indonesia. If a user buys a Google Pixel phone outside Indonesia, their phone will be considered illegal unless they pay the required taxes. This decision from the Indonesian government comes a week after the iPhone 16 was banned. The Indonesian government has set terms and conditions for the sale of phones there, so that local manufacturing can be boosted. The government has directed smartphone companies to use 40 percent local components in their devices.

However, Google and Apple are not the largest smartphone manufacturers in Indonesia. Samsung and Oppo phones are sold more in the Indonesian market. Tourists heading to Indonesia from India will also be affected by this ban imposed by the Indonesian government.
